Friends, Family and Fans,
The Calgary Crush unfortunately will not be participating in the 2015-2016 ABA season, due to Calgary’s current financial status. After taking a long look at the present financial state of the Club, considering the lack of sponsorship, it was decided that partaking in the 2015-2016 season is not a responsible decision. Coming to this conclusion was very difficult and we want to let all of our fans, supporters and extended family know that we appreciate all of the support you have shown over the past few seasons.
It is important to note that the Club is not folding but rather, taking a year off to recoup losses and rebuild sponsorships, in order to enter the 2016-2017 season stronger than ever. After rigorous tryouts, much deliberation and difficult decisions the team was recently selected and will continue to practice and participate in exhibition games both in and out of Calgary. Players are hard at work, developing their skills and focused to ensure that the team will be ready to bring home the ABA Championship, in years to come.
Moreover, The Calgary Crush will continue to be active members in the community; giving back whenever opportunities arise. One of our main focusses, is to be involved in the greater community as much as possible and our presence will certainly be felt. The successes of the club are largely due to you, our fans, and we want to show our appreciation. The club will be running skill development sessions, helping out with local basketball clubs and high schools and contributing in countless ways, throughout the following year.
We sincerely want to apologize to our fans and the greater community, for not being able to showcase what Calgary has to offer this year. Know that this decision was not easy and was carefully thought out. This road block, however, will only make us stronger and we promise to entertain, impress and wow all of you in 2016. Thank you for being on this journey with us and in due time, we will all be cheering once again, as The Calgary Crush take on the ABA.
